RMAI NEWS UPDATE
Hello Everyone,
Hope you all enjoyed your weekend. I wanted to touch base and remind everyone of some of the things going on… here we go.
PICTURE DAY – TOMORROW. (No classes) with RMAPCO
Tomorrow (May 6th) is our annual day with Robertson’s Martial Arts Photography. Mr Robertson has been taking our photos every year and is responsible for creating the black belt portraits and wonderful photo plaques we have hanging in our foyer. The date we’ve scheduled is Tuesday May 6th beginning at 3:00pm. The signup sheet is in the lobby by the front door, if you haven’t yet signed up. Black Belts are required to get one for our display in the dojang but will not be required to purchase one.
NO BOHK WEEK – Next Week.
Monday May 12 through Saturday May 17 is the next Nobohk week. For those who aren’t familiar, Nobohk is the nickname we give meaning “No Dobohk”. Students will be required to wear regular workout clothing. No uniforms or belts.
STRIPE WEEK - Monday May 19 through Friday May 23rd.
NEW PRODUCTS & SPARRING GEAR
For those who are asking, YES, we are getting ready to make a big order for Sparring Gear. Two types of gear are now available. Standard set, good for regular karate point style sparring, competition and class, and the Upgraded newer style with slide on shin/instep protection MMA style gloves. Good for Karate sparring and for Mixed Style, Bunhae and Grappling. Standard set is available in multiple colors and is $125 per set. The upgrade set is $145 and is only available with Black Gloves, Black or White Shin/Insteps, and Black, Red or White helmets. See Maddie or Master Celona for details.
3 Month/90 Day Martial Art Training Journals: If you’ve been wondering what’s been sitting on the counter for the last few day. We have made available Martial Arts Training Journals. These journals are an excellent way to track your training progress. Master Celona has been documenting his training everyday in his planner for the last 15 years… It’s helpful to develop good habits. Logging your training in a specialized journal helps you stay on track. Our journals are for 3 months or 90 days and come in a variety of styles. We have a handful of the RMAI designs left on clearance for $20. New fancy designs are available for pre-order at $35. Now with a laminated glossy card stock cover and heavy stock internal pages to log all your training exploits. Pre-order list, and samples to check out, as well as the clearance items are in the lobby.
RMAI Motivational posters: Martial Arts catalogs offer motivational style posters to hang up, but sadly (in my opinion) the designs are either terrible, or the message presented is boring… or even worse, just simply the name TAEKWONDO or KARATE is just hastily slapped on a picture and plopped in the catalog for you to buy. We wanted to provide our own, with better art, and more RMAI specific motivational sayings to inspire you in your martial arts journey. We have released the first two of these designs. You can see them better in person, they are a heavy 11x17 card stock printed with a semi-gloss finish. Not to mention the cool art and RMAI-style motivational phrasings. Price is $8 or both designs for $15. Makes a fun addition to decorating your home workout area.
RED BELT TESTING:
I know it’s a little early, but I wanted to give those eligible for the next RED BELT EXAM enough warning to earn the rest of their stripes and prepare. Saturday May 31st at 1:00pm the following students are eligible for testing.

RMAI will once again participate in the Fun Fair in downtown Swarthmore. Date is Sunday May 18th

SUMMER CAMP!
We have scheduled our dates for our annual Summer Camp. Note: Because of when Independence Day falls, we’ve decided to make each of the summer camp weeks non-consecutive. Hopefully announcing the dates this early will help you plan your summer schedule. Price is $250 per week, and $299 for Non-RMAI members. When signing up, be sure to login on member connect to get the member price. Camp is from 8am to 3pm, Monday to Friday.
